Licking spittle on lips during fasting

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

Asalamualaikum

Sometimes when I talk the spittle from talking lands on my lips. Is this permissible to lick and swallow?

I have more worries that I haven’t mentioned. Such thoughts really make my fast harder and make me actually afraid to fast so I keep avoiding to make up the ones I missed in Ramadan.

Please help. JazakAllah Khairan

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Since the saliva comes onto your lips unintentionally, your fast will not break if you lick your lips and swallow the saliva.
