Disposing of hair

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi Taala wa barakatuh.

After having a haircut I collect hair for burying. However a small part of the cropped hair remains on the haircut machine and on the floor. In addition remnants of cropped hair when washing hair are washed off into the sewage. Is it excusable?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh.

Brother in Islam,

Every part of a human is honoured. Allah says:

ولقد كرمنا بنى ادم (الاسراء: 70)

Translation: “Verily we have honoured the Children of Adam”(Surah Israa: 70)

The cut hair should be disposed of respectfully by burying it to the best of your ability. One will be excused for not disposing the remains of the hair in the machine and on the floor. However, avoid the hair being washed in to the sewage as that is disrespectful.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
