What we mean by this statement that ‘ even if you were not his wife you have the right to stop him’ is that a Muslim should stop another Muslim from committing wrong. This right has been endowed on the Muslims by the sacred law to enjoin good and forbid evil.

So far now my husband is staying in ***** and the first time in his life he is sharing a apartment with a non- Muslim women who is a single mother of two. Now I am feeling insecure and tensed which is affecting my daily schedule. Its not that I don’t trust my husband. He knows that I don’t like this but still he is living with her and giving me mental torture. Do I have a right to tell him to move to other place?

What kind of haqooq does Islam give to a wife?
Even if you were not his wife you have the right to stop him from talking to a strange woman. But when you are his wife you are more entitled to stop him. It is not permissible for a man to stay in an apartment with a woman whom he can marry or who is a stranger. If he doesn’t listen to you then you should be patient, if you can’t be patient then you should ask for separation.
