Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

the refrence text was in Arabic so i can’t understand the meaning of airah Mufti sahab can u please kindly explain its meaning and why its not suitable as many names website state that the meaning of this name is respectable also kindly suggest is it suitable to name baby girl Emaan?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh

The meaning of the name A’irah is “defective, frightened roaming person, anything that causes defect to the eyes, hesitant between two groups”. The word A’irah has also been used to describe a Munafiq (hypocrite). It is not a suitable name to keep.

It is permissible to keep the name Eemaan.
