Recently we went to a place called “Pita Inn” to eat and it was owned by some Lebanese/Arabs I believe. When we asked if their food was zabiha, they said yes. Therefore we proceeded to eat the food. In this situation what should we do? Should we take the Muslims word? It would be really helpful if the shariah board can come up with a list of zabiha restaurants and non-zabiha restaurants.
There is a lot of confusion these days with regard to the meet. Therefore, it is not enough for us to be convinced when a hotel personnel or the storeowner tells us that the meet is halal. Unless, we find it and verify it from other sources about the legitimacy of the meet that we are buying or consuming we should stay away from it and its consumption would not be allowed. We don’t have a list of the stores or restaurants in which we can say with conviction that they provide only halal meet. Maybe in the future we would be able to do something like that.
