I would like to know whether it is permissible to have food with non – muslims (like chirstians), the food is not there but mine. usually in the office before having the food we invite them to have food with us, actually they dont bring tiffins with them from the home they take it from the mess, here the point that has to be noted is that we dont take there food but they take ours?
First question is that whether taking food with non muslims eventhough the food is ours is permissible or not.
Secondly ! if we take there food means the food that is brought bythe non muslims(here chirstian) is allowed or not?
Thirdly ! if the food is brought from the hotel and a non muslim is paying for that food ? is it allowed to have that food ?>

1. To eat Halaal food with non-Muslims is Makrooh. However, if a person was forced to eat with non-Muslim and he did so one or two times, he will not be sinful. (Fataawa Mahmoodiyah vol.5 pg.101)
2. It is permissible to accept the invitation of a non-Muslim if there is a need to do so and the food is pure and Halaal. (Ibid vol.9 pg.369)
3. If the food bought is Halaal and pure and no detriment will be caused by accepting the food, it will be permissible. (Ibid vol.5 pg.225)
