Question: Assalam’aleykum,

In order to know when a child has reached maturity do we have to use a lunar or a solar calendar?

Is the age of maturity for a girl 9 full years?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

What is of consideration is their age in lunar years.

However, nine lunar years is the minimum age for girls. She isn’t considered to be an adult until her first menstrual period.

And Allah alone gives success.
