Is It Permissible To Study Macbeth?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org
Question:
Is it permissible to study Macbeth?
Answer:
Dear questioner,
Thank you for your important question.
As long as one does not believe in nor utter a statement of disbelief  (kufr), they are still in the fold of Islam.

Take this opportunity to reflect on the blessing and beauty of Islam. While you are studying Macbeth, ponder on how Islamic Teachings offer a much better and sophisticated way of life.

Your intentions during this study should be to find wisdom and learn more about English literature to then use it in a manner that pleases Allah, Most High.

The Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: “Wisdom is the lost property of the believer. Wherever he finds it, he is most deserving of it.” [Tirmidhi, al-Sunan]
