Corrective Eye Surgery

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Is corrective eye surgery (specificallly that done by laser) recommended or even permissible? I have been told there are certain risks involved, but there are also a lot of benefits to it (example: being better apt to endure combat situations or by becoming independent of glasses saving money and frustration replacing them.).

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits.

When there is need or benefit corrective surgery is permitted. Please search SunniPath Answers (http://qa.sunnipath.com) for related answers on the fiqh of medical treatment.

And Allah alone gives success.
