Is it permitted to run an internet cafe?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Is The Net Cafe”s Business is Allowed or Not?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, with blessings and peace on the Messenger of Allah

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that you are well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good in this life and the next.

It is in itself permitted to run an internet cafe, as the primary general use of it is permissible–and the principle is that it is permitted to sell or provide those things whose primary use is permissible.

However, one would be religiously bound to take the reasonable means to prevent customers from pornographic sites and the like.

And Allah alone gives success.
