Mufti’s Ruling on Wadi Breaks Whudu and Salaah: Do I Need to Redo My Prayer?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: A mufti recently said wadi breaks whudu which breaks Salaah. I didn’t know this before and I performed Salaah in this state. So due to the fact I did not know, I won’t have to redo the Salaah? Plus I forgot which Salaah it was.

Bismillaah

A: If after making wudhu, wadi had come out and you performed Salaah thereafter without repeating your wudhu, then since the wudhu broke, the Salaah performed thereafter was not valid. It will have to be repeated. You should try to the best of your ability to remember which Salaah this had taken place and thereafter make qadha of that Salaah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
