Questions About Nabi (S.A.W.)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mahmoodiyah

Dear scholars,

Would you please answer the following, since some of my friends make an argument on these:

1. Was Prophet Mohammed (Peace & blessing of Allah be upon him) was totally
unlettered? Some says during the compromise of Hudaibiyah, he (Prophet)
wrote by his hand.

2. Did he had knowledge of unseen?

3. Is he alive and see & hear us?

An early reply would be highly appreciated.

Jazakallah Khair

1: Nabi [S.A.W] did not learn literacy from anyone in this world, which is why Nabi [S.A.W] did not write nor read any letter himself. On the occasion of Hudaibiyah Nabi [S.A.W] did not write anything himself. Nabi [S.A.W] was not ignorant rather he was granted knowledge by ALLAH TA’ALA.

2: Nabi [S.A.W] had a lot of knowledge of the unseen i.e., the condition after death, of the day of resurrection, of heaven and hell, of the Angels and of past events. All of this was inspired on him by Allah Ta’ala.

3: The pure body of Nabi [S.A.W] is protected and safe from all forms of harm in his grave and he is aware of all those who go to his mausoleum and convey salutations on him. At present Nabi [S.A.W] is living in what is known as the life of “BARZAKH”. The life of “BARZAKH” is a higher life form than our visible life form. It cannot be understood nor explained, due to the fact that, the universe after death differs from this universe we reside in while alive, and we understand things and happenings around us based on our knowledge and understanding of what we see and understand. If for example an unborn baby is made to understand the conditions of the outside world he wont be able to understand and might even refute it. In a similar way, a person living in this world cannot fully comprehend the realities of the comfort, agony, etc of the hereafter.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best
