Muslim Schools and Lottery Money

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mahmoodiyah

Question:

Is it permissible for a Muslim School to accept lottery money and use the money:

1.  To pay off debts

2.  To run the school

3.  For construction purposes

Answer:

Firstly, we should understand that playing the lottery is a grave sin.  Those who engage in such sinful acts must sincerely repent and abandon it.

It is permissible for a Muslim school to use lottery money for the purposes mentioned in your question.  However, it will not be permissible to use this money for the wages of the Asaatizah.
