Question
Please mention the incident of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud referred to at the end of this answer.
Answer
This narration is recorded in Mustadrak Hakim, Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq, As Sunanul Kubra of Imam Bayhaqi and other Hadith sources.
Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) once stood on the mimbar on the day of Jumu’ah and told the congregation, “Sit”. ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) heard and he was still at the [entrance] of the Masjid. He immediately sat down. Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) [saw him and] said, “Come [inside] O Ibn Mas’ud.”
