Another version of ‘Uthman’s (radiyallahu ‘anhu) statement regarding the Quran

What is the correct reference for this statement and can it be quoted?

لو طهرت قلوبكم ما شبعت من كلام الله

Answer:

This narration is recorded in Fadailus Sahabah and Kitabuz Zuhd of Imam Ahmad and Hilyatul Awliya as the statement of Sayyiduna ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

The narration is suitable to quote.

Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded the narration with very slight variation in the wording. See here
