Reciting 1000 verses of Quran in the path of Allah

Could you verify this narration?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever recites one thousand (1000) verses of the Holy Quran in the path of Allah will be raised with the martyrs”

Answer

Imams Ahmad, Abu Ya’la and Tabarani (rahimahumullah) have recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Mu’adh ibn Anas Al Juhani with a weak chain.

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 3 pg. 437, Musnad Abi Ya’la, Hadith: 1489, Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 399, volume: 20; Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 2 pg. 269 and vol. 7 pg. 162. Also see: Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 2 pg. 87/88)

The Hadith is suitable to quote as is the case with Hadiths of this nature.

(Targhib, vol. 2 pg. 267)

The full Hadith is as follows:

“Whoever recites one thousand (1000) verses of the Holy Quran in the path of Allah, on the Day of Qiyamah, he will be raised with the Ambiya, siddiqin, martyrs and pious. And those are wonderful companions insha Allah”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
