Is this this Hadith authentic?
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Whoever recites Surah Yasin on the eve of Friday he will be forgiven by morning”
Answer
Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration with a weak chain. The narration states ‘Whoever recites Surah Dukhan and Surah Yasin on the eve of Friday he will be forgiven by morning’
(Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 2248)
However, Imam Malik (rahimahullah) and others have recorded the following narration:
Sayyiduna Jundub ibn ‘Abdullah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whoever recites Surah Yasin at night seeking the pleasure of Allah, His sins will be forgiven.”
(Muwatta Imam Malik)
Imam ibn Hibban has classified this Hadith as sahih; Sahih ibn Hibban vol. 6 pg. 312 (see: Targhib vol. 2 pg. 377).
The above Hadith is general and includes Friday eve.
