Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) feared that the ummah will have weak conviction [yaqin]

Is this Hadith acceptable?

ما أخاف على أمتي إلا ضعف اليقين

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 8864)

‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the narrators reliable (rijaluhu thiqat).

(Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 1 pg. 107)

Translation

[Among] The only fear I have for my ummah is weak conviction

‘Allamah Munawi (rahimahullah) explains, When a person has weakness in his conviction, his heart will turn to the creation which will result in him being distanced from his Rabb. ‘Yaqin’ refers to having firm conviction, belief and firm trust in Allah and being pleased with his decree.

(Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 7795)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
