Don’t worry about the faults of others

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Glad tidings to the one whose own faults have occupied him from the faults of others

Is this saying a Hadith?

Answer

This has been reported by several Sahabah (radiyallahu’anhum) as a Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) with very weak chains.

However, the report of Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu’anhu) is the one that is least weak and actually suitable to quote.

His report is recorded in Musnad Bazzar; see Kashful Astar, Hadith: 3225 & Al-Firdaws, Hadith: 3742

‘Allamah ‘Iraqi, and Munwai (rahimahullah) have classified the chain as weak, and some have declared it sound (hasan)

(Takhrijul Ihya, Hadith: 3022, At-Taysir, vol.2 pg.120. Also see: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol.10 pg.229, Tamyizut Tayyibi minal Khabith, Hadith: 827, Kashful Khafa, Hadith: 1671, Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 5306 & Sharhul ihya, vol.7 pg.465)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
