An unauthentic Hadith regarding the repellents of Bid’ah

Is the following narration authentic?

Translation:

Whenever any innovation detrimental to Islam appears, Allah Ta’ala always has a pious friend to speak about the signs of this innovation and to defend Islam, so attend those gatherings and place your trust in Allah and Allah is sufficient as a disposer of affairs.

Answer

Bid’ah is not tolerated in Islam, and should undoubtedly be repelled.

The narration in question has been recorded by Imam Abu Nu’aym (rahimahullah) in Hilyatul Awliya with an extremely weak chain.

(Hilyatul Awliya, vol. 10 pg. 400)

In fact  Hafiz Dhahabi (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith as a fabrication and ‘Allamah Munawi (rahimahullah) has stated that the signs of fabrication are apparent in this narration. The Hadith therefore should not be quoted.

(Lisanul Mizan, vol. 5 pg. 229 -4857- and vol. 3 pg. 508 -3217-, At Taysir bi Sharhil Jami ‘is Saghir, vol. 1 pg. 336. Also see Al Mudawi of Ahmad Siddiq Al Ghumari)
