An unauthentic narration regarding a miser

What is the source of this Hadith?

“Allah Ta’ala dislikes the person who remains stingy throughout his life and becomes generous at the time of his death”

Answer

Imam Khatib Baghdadi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Kitabul Bukhala, Hadith: 42)

However, this Hadith has has been transmitted with an extremely weak chain which consists of a fabricator. The Hadith is not suitable to quote.

(Refer: Al Mughni Fid Du’afa, vol. 1 pg. 97, Lisanul Mizan, vol. 1 pg. 508 and 684. Also see Tabaqatush Shafi’iyyah, vol. 6 pg. 347, Al Mughni ‘An Hamlil Asfar, Hadith: 3332 and Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 1857)

There are many authentic narrations regarding generosity and miserliness which should be quoted instead.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
