Safeguarding the tongue, a means of protecting one’s Iman

Kindly verify the following Hadith:

“A person’s Iman (faith) is not upright until his heart is upright, and his heart is not upright until his tongue is upright”

Answer

Imam Ahmad (rahimahullah) and others have recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 3 pg. 198)

The Hadith has been declared sound (hasan) by some Muhaddithun and is suitable to quote.

( Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 1 pg. 53. Also see Targhib, vol. 3 pg. 353 and Fathul Wahhab of Ahmad Siddiq Al Ghumari, vol. 2 pg. 102)
