Rushing the Nikah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham
If girl side rushes nikah for no apparent reason and really are pushing that nikah should be done asap. The boys family feel apprehensive as they have the grooms elder brother in prison and are waiting for him to be released before they do the nikah ceremony.  It was initially agreed that they wait for his release and are now saying to do nikah next week????? What would be the hukam or is there any daleel for and against if girl side are pushing???? Please advice and duaa for guidance

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Abu Saeed Khudri and Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi allahu anhuma) relate that the Prophet (sallal lahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “Whoever is blessed by the Lord with children should give them good names, and good training, and teach them good manners, and arrange for their marriage when they arrive at puberty. (If he does not pay due heed to it), and fails to get them married, on reaching the marriageable age, (due to negligence), and they take to ways that are forbidden, the father will be held responsible for it.” (Mishkat, P271).

From the above Hadith it is clear that it is the duty of the parents for the marriage of their children once they reach puberty. If there is fear of indulgence in sins then the nikah should be done immediately otherwise a suitable time convenient to all parties may be chosen in the near future without too much delay.

Only Allah knows best.
