Making announcements in the Masjid for events or for lost items

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

The item hasn’t been lost elsewhere, it was lost or stolen in the Masjid, and does the same hadith apply? The person who lost it isn’t making an announcement; it’s the Imam or committee. Isn’t this like the normal announcements that we make for events on after salat or on Fridays? Isn’t the voice raised for that?

Answer

One is allowed to make announcements in the Masjid with a mic or without a mic as long as the announcement is Islamically related. Therefore, making announcements for various events on the microphone would be allowed as it is a form of dawah. Making announcements for lost items would be permissible if the item was lost in the actual Jamaat Khana itself. If it was lost outside the Jamaat Khana, an announcement cannot be made inside. The hadith applies to this situation. (Aapke Masaail p.144 v.3 & Maarifus Sunan p.312 v.1)
