Question

اسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

I have a few dental problems which I got examined. I was informed it will cost me around £3000. Now, that is something that I can’t pay, so is there something I can do about that? Would I be able to get insurance?

Answer:

If you are planning to take out an interest-based loan or insurance, then note that this will not be permissible.

Jabir Ibn Abdullah reports that:

“The Messenger of Allāh (May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed the one who consumes riba and the one who pays it, the one who writes it down and the two who witness it. He said they are all the same” (Muslim)

If you need to have the treatment, then my advice for you would be to seek Halal means to finance the procedure. This may be in the form of a Halal loan from friends, family or an Islamic Institution.
