Nikah via the telephone

Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Id like to know about the telephone nikah can you do it if a girl has been divorced and she wants to marry without the wali, can we marry on phone? and can you do nikkah?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. A nikah done over the phone will not be valid, as one of the conditions for nikah is that it be conducted in one gathering.[1]
