Question:

Assalamoalaikum wa rehmatullahi wa barakaatahu, mufti saheb, my parents are interested in a girl to be married to my brother. I know her to be very nice, but she has some menstrual problems, should I tell my mom about it??? Before they finally decide?

Answer:

Bismillah

If by menstruation problems you mean irregular bleedings then there is no need to tell your mother, as one can still fall pregnant. However, if the sister in question does not have periods at all then it will be necessary for you to inform your mother.

Hiding such information will be considered as deception and deception is unlawful in Islam.

The Prophet of Allah ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) has said: “Whosoever deceives us he is not from us.” (Tabrani)
