2.Hydrolyzed Keratin is usually made by dissolving horns and hoofs of animals. The animal may be zabiha,non-zabiha or even pig. It has been used as animal glue for thousands of years. More recently it has found its way into hair care products to give hair body and stiffness. The process to manufacture is similar to gelatin but not as clean. Is it ok to use hair care products with small amounts of hydrolyzed keratin?

(1) We are not aware whether the Seal is fish or not. It is recommended that you consult the local Ulama and Muftis, if they regard it as fish then it will be allowed to use the oil made of its glands internally and externally. Likewise, its meat will be halal.
(2) If Hydrolyzed Keratin is made by dissolving horns and hoofs of halal animals whether they are sacrificed in Shariah prescribed manner or not, in both cases it will be permissible to use it. But, if it is made by dissolving the horns and hoofs of haram animals like pig and dog then it will not be allowed to use it even if it is in little amount.
