Me and my friends are planning to distribute food packages for the month of Ramadan for the needy families. Please explain me in the light of Quran and Sunnah if we can use our zakah money for this purpose or zakah should be given in the form of money only.

It is not necessary to pay zakah in cash only, rather it may also be paid in kinds etc as well and zakah equal to the market price of given thing shall be paid.
