Losing focus while working

Question: I work on an hourly basis and save the time I work on an application Sometimes I become very distracted or work very slowly. Is my work halal?

Answer:

Wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Dear questioner,

Thank you for your important question.

It is normal and expected that an employee is not 100% focused during every second of his work. However, if one is generally dosing off, not doing one’s work, talking excessively, or not focusing at all, one cannot keep the timer running.

One should either submit a day’s work with fewer hours and have to answer for that at work or make up the time. One cannot submit a deceiving account of what one actually completed.

I pray this helps.
