I was listening in a bayaan regarding rights of the wife that the Prophet (Sallallaho alayhi wa sallam) used to kiss his wife when leaving the home and also when coming back. I wanted to know, how does kissing your wife affect wudhu? And is there a difference between kissing the wife on the cheeks or lips (meaning if I kiss her cheeks is it a different ruling then kissing her lips).
The prophet peace be upon him used to do something like this only at times not always. The wudhu still remains and in the condition of fasting, the fast remains. There is not a big difference between lips and cheeks. However one should try to stay away from it during fasting but it does not break the wudhu according to the research of the jurist.
