Please tell me the lughvi and istelaahi meanings of the words “abdaal” and “qalandar” , because I did not understand their meaning in feroz-ul-lughaat. My second question is I would like to know if there are any books written by Mufti Muhammad Hasan Sahab Amritsari khaleefa of Hazrat Hakeem-ul-ummat (rahimahumullah). And the last question is I know that Maulana Manaazir Ahsan Geelaani (RA) was a mureed of Hazrat Hakeem-ul-ummat (RA) but after the demise of his peer who did Hazrat Geelaani approached for islaahi taaluq and did he get khilaafat from sombody.

The great companion of the prophet peace be upon him Honorable ‘Ali’ R.A. said that there were 40 ‘abdal’ in Syria or would be in all times. These are the people who are God fearing, because of whom Allah sends down the rain and blessings.

The true meaning of ‘qalanda’ is not known but the meaning in which it is understood is that it’s those people who are on the path of love with Allah. The path of love in ‘tasawwuf’ says that one can remove the debased characteristics by the means of love. When the fire of love is rekindled than the lover does not see anything wrong with the beloved and that fire burns all the defects of the beloved.

There’s also a sermon delivered on this subject by the great scholar Maulana Ashraf Thanwi. Whether or not there is a book written by the great scholar Maulana Amrohi is not in our knowledge.

Maulana Munazir Hasan Gilani is one of the famous scholars from the city of Hyderabad and he was affiliated with the ‘Silsila Qadriya’ for his spiritual progress and he also achieved khilafat. Thse people are among his khulafa, professor Ilyas Barni, Dr. Gulam Dastageer, Dr. Meer wali uddin, Shah Sufi Gulam Muhammed, Maulana Muhammed Hussain.
