What say the ulema of deen when Hamid took out his zakat money and then entrusted Zaid to spend it in its places of expenditure. Now, the trustee of zakat money Zaid, used that money to pay off the debt of Umr without giving it to him or informing him that Umr your debt has been paid off, so, can someone spend his/her zakat money like this? Would that person’s zakat be paid off or not?

For a person to be absolved of the obligation of zakat he/she needs to appropriate possession to the poor which didn’t happen in this case. Hence, the zakat was not paid off.
