Supplication for Someone under Severe Distress

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam

Question: Is there a supplication for those undergoing severe life distress?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

“No one should wish death for any affliction that has befallen him. If he finds his situation unbearable, let him pray: ‘O Allah, grant me life if life is good for me, and grant me death if death is good for me’ (“Allahumma ahyini ma kanati al-hayatu khayran li wa tawaffani ma kanat al-wafatu khayran li)” [Muslim]

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam,
