Trading Places for the Sunna?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I have often seen people trade places following salat before sunnah? Is there a sunnah backing this action up or is it tradition ?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

It is recommended to pray the sunna in a different place than one’s fard, if this is possible to do without disturbing anyone.

Trading places is not recommended in itself, but if one means (especially when it is crowded) to fulfill the above mentioned sunna.

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani.
