Is Zakat required on personal jewellery held for a year?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Do we have to pay Zakat on jewellery that is for personal use, keeping in mind that Zakat is due on something that has been spare for full one year?

Answer
Bismillaah-ir-Rahmaan-ir-Raheem.

Assalaamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuh.

According to Imaam Abu Haneefah, Zakaah is fardh (mandatory) on any gold or silver jewellery, irrespective of whether it is for personal use or for trading purposes.
