Can sincere repentance be enough for a major sin that requires hadd punishment?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Assalamualikum

I have had this q in my head for a long tome. If a person had committed a major sin that no-one has come to know of besides Allah. And that sin is one which makes hadd lazim then when one realises what they have done is wrong will sincere repentance be enough? Or will that person have to have the hadd carried out on him/her?
E.g after zinaa, stealing etc?
If you die and the hadd hasnt taken place but you have repented are you still accountable for it?
This is affecting my belief as a muslim and bringing doubts to my head. If i don’t get it answered soon my iman will keep getting weaker.

Tawbah (sincere repentance) is sufficient. It is not necessary for the HAdd to be applied. In any case, the Hadd would only be applied where there was an Islamic Government.
