Zodiac Signs and Stones: Exploring Nature’s Influence or Superstition?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

  1. Zodiac signs tell about some things in nature in general. In my view, it’s like writing and analysis. Is this ok to read those signs not believing in it firmly but just for an overview. Not predicting the future. Will it be like going to a soothsayer?
  2. Wearing stones or pearls as if they are source of peace or else people say that if a vegetable or such can help in disease why there can’t be goodness in these items?

A:

  1. The hadeeth has strongly prohibited reading or believing these types of zodiac signs for they have the potential of leading one to disbelief.
  2. Much of these things are based on superstition and guess work.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
