Interpreting a Delayed Marriage Proposal: Istikhaara and Financial Independence

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I have done istikhaara for marraige and I proposed to the man I had in mind. He said that he needs time because he is not financially independent yet. I can wait. But I am confused. Is that a positive or a negative response?

Bismillaah

A: This is left to you. If you wish to accept his word you may accept and if you wish you can reject and go on with life.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
