The two radiant Surahs; Surah Baqarah and Surah Aalu ‘Imran

Which two Surahs are referred to as ‘Zahrawayn’?

Answer

Imam Muslim (rahimahullah) has recorded the Hadith wherein Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) referred to Surah Baqarah and Surah Aalu ‘Imran as ‘Zahrawayn’.

This means: the two illuminated/radiant Surahs. These two Surahs were called ‘The illuminated’, due to the guidance contained within them [thereby enlightening one of the path to success] and the great reward for reciting them.

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 804. Refer: Fathul Mulhim, Hadith: 1843)
