Before the commencement of Wahiy, for a period of six months, Rasoolullaah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) would see dreams at night, that would be as clear as crystal the next day. This shows that the beginning of Wahiy was the seeing of Ru’yaa-e-Saalihah (good and true dreams). And since the period was for six months, when calculated as a fraction of the total period of Nubuwwat (prophethood – 23years), it works out to 1/46. That is why Ru’yaa-e-Saalihah is said to be ‘one forty-sixth’ of Prophethood. This ofcourse does not mean that seeing good and true dreams awards you with 1/46 of prophethood. The purpose of this hadeeth is merely to state the virtue of good dreams, and to denote that some dreams do have a meaning and message. Is it true description?

The answer to your question is as follows:
Some Ulama have prescribed the same, hence there is nothing wrong in this explanation.
