Women Wearing Red Wedding Dress

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Albalagh.net

Women Wearing Red Wedding Dress

By Mufti Ebrahim Desai

Q.) Is a Muslim woman allowed to wear ‘red’ clothes on her wedding day? Or should she avoid it on the grounds that it will imitate another sect? eg: Hinduism [Rehana]

A.) In principle, women can wear red color clothes. However, she should not wear it outside and expose herself to gazes from non-Mahrams.

If wearing red at weddings, etc. is a sign or distinguishing feature of any non-Muslim sect in that area or community wherein the bride lives, then it will not be correct for her to wear red. And Allah Ta’ala Knows Best
