Message: Salaams, can a woman buy a silver wedding ring for her husband as a way to indicate to Kaafir women and Muslim women that he is married?
Wa Alaikum Assalaam,
الجواب و بالله التوفيق
In Islam, there is no custom of ‘a wedding ring’ as it is understood by people. As such, to give a ‘customary wedding ring’ will not be in accordance to the teachings of Islam. However, it is permissible for you to buy a silver ring and give it to your husband to wear. You can do this at any time, whether on the occasion of marriage or any other time.
Since people generally understand that the ring worn signifies that the person is married, it is permissible for you to buy a silver ring for your husband to wear to send a message to other women that he is married.
And Allah Knows Best.
