I read “Performing Hajj with a debt”. In it you are talking about a debt which doesn””t involve riba. My question is if somebody has a mortgage involving riba then should he be thinking of performing hajj or should he be thinking of getting himself out of riba first? Which is important?
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits.
It is more incumbent to repay such debts than to perform Hajj, because of the well-established fiqh principle derived from the Qur’an and Sunna that, “Avoiding harm is given precedence to attaining unto benefits.” [Ibn Nujaym]
And Allah alone gives success.
