Ghusl, Rubbing the Belly Button, and Prayers

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

toady pre-jummah, i suffered a wet dream and therefore had to do ghusl after the third washing of the body at the end of ghusl, it ocurred to me that i may not have rubbed the inner belly button area which should have been done on the first stage when rubbing the body. however, as i was struggling for time ad i think the order is just / rubbing is just a sunnah, i just wiped the area at the end, completed ghusl and read the days salah. is my ghusl and the entire days salah valid?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits. Rubbing is sunna, and you would assume that the water reached your entire body–and your ghusl (and subsequent prayer) would therefore be considered valid.

And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani
