Superfluous and chest hair

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

For men shaving, is it also necessary to shave the hair near the anal hole? Also, is it necessary for a man to have hair on his chest if it does not grow normally? (i.e. should he shave the chest so that it grows?)

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah,

1. The sunna is to shave or trim the front pubic hair. It is good (hasan) to shave or trim other pubic hair, as it is more hygienic to do so; not doing so is not blameworthy, however. [ref: Tahwawi, Hashiyat al-Maraqi]

2. It is improper and unmanly (but not sinful) for men to trim their chest or leg hair.

Wassalam.

Faraz Rabbani
