Re: Actions During Khutba

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Abu Usamah

I have seen some people lift their hands in dua IN BETWEEN the two Jumah Khutbas (i.e. when the Imam sits down for a few seconds). What’s the ruling regarding this? I’ve personally heard its Makruh Tahriman. Please clarify.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Al-Salam alaykum

The du`a in between the two khutbahs should be made in the heart (and mind) without moving the lips or raising the hands. The same applies to salutations on Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and saying Amin to the Imam’s du`a.
