Is one allowed to close their eyes during prayer for the sake of concentration?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

It is not disliked to close one’s eyes when one can concentrate better with them closed. If that is the only way one can concentrate (after having tried to keep your gaze fixed on your place of prostration, which is the recommended sunna), then it may even be better to keep them closed. [Shurunbulali, Imdad al-Fattah; Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam.

Faraz Rabbani
