An unreliable Hadith on the virtue of offering Salah while carrying a sword

Question

Is this Hadith authentic?

صلاة الرجل متقلدا سيفه تفضل على صلاة غير المتقلد سبع مائة ضعف

Answer

This narration is recorded in Tarikh Baghdad as part of a longer narration on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Tarikh Baghdad, vol. 9 pg. 365)

However, the Muhaddithun have declared this narration a fabrication. It is therefore not suitable to quote.

(Refer: Tanzihush Shari’ah, vol. 2 pg. 177)

Translation

Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “The Salah of a person carrying a sword is seven hundred times superior than that of a person not carrying a sword.”
