Du’a- La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah- La malja a wa la manja minallahi illa ilayhi
لا حَوْلَ وَ لاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللهِ لاَ مَلْجَأَ وَ لاَ مَنْجَا مِنَ اللهِ إِلاَّ إِلَيْهِ
Answer
This is a practice that is based on experience, and has been suggested for removal of difficulties. It is a common practice of some senior pious elders.
It is not based on the Hadith.
Practices like this are fine, as long as one does not attribute or think it to be from the Hadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ’alayhi wasallam).
’Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) has explained this principle in his book; At-Targhib wat-Tarhib as well.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
